Summary

More of an ecchi-comedy series combined with a fair bit of action and drama, Magical Explorer does a good job of keeping you interested throughout the series. Although each book is only around the 200 page mark, it's action-beats keep you invested and the heroines all have hilarious quirks that make them stand out against the crowd. Although our protag is in an eroge (erotic video game), he hasn't committed to any unsavory acts besides being a lucky sukebe (lucky pervert) and facing the wrath of the girls he meets. Thus its an ecchi story without smut or anything too unscrupulous. As a plus side, Kousuke is very clearly not the most overpowered character in the series, with many other characters demonstrating strengths and weaknesses that aren't normally seen in anime. So if you're in store for a fun and somewhat short series, give this one a go!

Miscellaneous

Updates for this series unfortunately come rather slow. Luckily, there's already 6 almost 7 books by now and hopefully, there'll be more in the future. Story-wise it's actually quite frustrating that the protag faces the classic light novel dilemma of having too many girls to choose from and literally no guts to move any of the romance along. Other than that, it's kind of a brainrot story that really doesn't require any super high level thinking and just wants you interested in the character writing rather than a ultra fleshed out world like a normal fantasy would. That's what makes it so fun though, cause you really don't have to think too hard about it to just relax and read.
